This festival was created back in 2010 in New York City as an initiative by Ishow NY Production and the Centro de Directores para el Nuevo Teatro. Its main goal is to provide a platform to promote and exhibit Venezuelan art in the Big Apple during two weeksVenezuelan art takes over New York City with plays, staged readings, live music shows, films, visual arts and fashion. The Festival has been supported by the Repertorio Español, The Lee Strasberg Theatre and Film Institute, Roy Arias Studios & Theaters, Instituto Cervantes, Taller Latinoamericano, The Producer’s Club, Teatro LATEA, Centro Español, Goya Foods, Hotel Americano, Dillon Gallery,Delta Airlines and Fractal Studios, Aid for Aids and Santa Teresa Rum.
Since the creation of the Venezuelans in New York City Festival (former name) in 2010, Venezuelans around the world have asked its producers and directors to endorse and also produce similar events in different cities and countries apart from just the NYC area, and to help promote Venezuelan art at a larger scale.
For this reason, the Venezuelans in NYC Festival (VNYCF) officially changes its name to “VENEZUELAN ART FESTIVAL (VAF)”. New York City will remain as the original headquarter for the VAF but the festival will also travel to Miami, Madrid, London, Paris, Beijing, Toronto, and Shanghai.
It is the aim of the board of directors that with hard work, time and effort, the Venezuelan Art Festival will have an official edition in as many cities and countries as possible.
