ALICE IN THERESA’S LAND…

Author: Lupe Gehrembeck Director: Lupe Gehrembeck

Starring: Jeneffa Soldatic & Tina Kobas

Music: Sean Van Doorum

This is a play based on “The Complete Etiquette for Ladies, a Complete Guide to Visiting, Entertaining, and Traveling with hints on Courtship, Marriage and Dress”, that still today, unexpectedly, has many things to say. This little book, published for the first time in London in 1826, inspired the characters of this play: Alice and Teresa, who speak with its words and think like it is advises in its pages. Nevertheless they feel in unpredictable ways, as unpredictable was life then and as it is now. It is clear that the essence of being escapes from the circumstances, fashion and time.

LINDA BRICEÑO

At only 24 Linda already owns an impressive list of achievements that would normally take any artist many years to accomplish: trumpet player, singer, and composer. Renowned musician and Jazz at Lincoln Center Musical Director, Wynton Marsalis expresses his awe on Linda when he says: “ She possesses an excellent awareness of time, rhythm and a great sound, but above all she has a deep understanding of musical concepts and ideas. There is a weight in her sound, weight, weight. This you either have it or you don’t and it is very unusual for such a young person to have it the way she does”.

SCHOLARSHIPS
The Lee Strasberg Theatre & Film Institute

For the VAF’s 2013 edition, the recognized Lee Strasberg Theatre & Film Institute , as part of its partnership with the Venezuelan Art Festival, will offer 5 scholarships for selected actors to attend a week of classes at the institute. The 5 Venezuelan actors will be chosen in Caracas considering their merits and experience.

Staff and teachers conducting classes have been selected for their comprehensive knowledge of Strasberg’s work and their ability to apply it to the problems of the actor. The Institute’s curriculum, designed by Lee, provides the actor with opportunities to pursue his or her work systematically and to gain firsthand knowledge of the fundamental concepts of the Strasberg work.
